2020 Cambridge Charity of the Year – nominations are open
Nominations are open for the 2020 Cambridge Charity of the Year, deadline for applications is Wednesday 2 October 2019. Nominations received from this date will be stored for the 2021 selection process.
Cambridge Charity of the Year nominations must adhere to the criteria below and will be reviewed against our guiding principles. After nominations have closed, a shortlist will be compiled and detailed submissions will be requested from the shortlisted charities. Following this, five selected charities will be invited to meet with the AstraZenenca Charity of the Year Panel in early November,  before a final decision is made. The panel comprises AstraZeneca colleagues representing different parts of the buisness in Cambridge.
Nominations are made directly by AstraZeneca colleagues who care about a particular local charity, or charities can apply directly. Number of nominations does not affect its weighting or chances of being successful.
Once the final selection is made, a meeting will be scheduled as early as possible to agree an outline of commitment for the coming year.
The programme runs from January to December each year, and the upcoming year’s chosen charity will be announced internally to staff at the end of November.
During the year we work closely with our selected charity in a number of ways, including
  • Fundraising via existing internal events
  • Mentoring and volunteering
  • Awareness-raising among our staff and across Cambridge
